Physiotherapy Treatment and Prevention

Hi Folks,

                      After explaining you all about what is Physiotherapy and how  a Physical therapist work, I received some e mails requesting and explaining how Physiotherapy can help making community  healthier .

                 As i told you earlier Physiotherapy deals with the disorders of body & basically works in two different ways. We can classify them as follows.

1. Preventive

2. Treatment

Well honestly talking about "Prevention with Physiotherapy" is little difficult in our community.

Don't get surprised i am not letting my profession down and must tell you why i'm saying this.

                 Indian community and the people are very tolerant with their bodies, health and  have tendency to delay their symptoms of pain or any discomfort. Which further leads to some disorders and some permanent problem of  health.

                   It's is like a delayed cycle of getting cured , we experience many times. You delay reacting to your symptoms of pain (which most of the times will be related to your bone, muscle,tendon,ligament) say for 15 days or 1 moth.
               After that you visit to you General Physician for pain (If the pain is related to some physiological conditions like of Fever,Cough & Cold its absolutely recommended to visit doctor but if not related to Fever, Cough or Cold?). He give you medicine for 4-5 days, & Symptoms doesn't get cured many times.
                   After that your General Physician refers you to Th Specialist doctor. He gives you medicine for 1 month you don't get cured there either. After 1 month The Specialist doctor tells you to go for an Investigations like X- Ray, Blood Test and others. Many times all reports are normal and by that time patient wastes more 1 month.
                    After that that The Specialist doctor refers you to us Physiotherapist.....You visit your Physiotherapist after 3-4 months of your actual symptoms. If you follow specialist doctors advice, if you delay in that it can go up to 6 months or 1 year.

                     So we consider that you follow specialist doctors advice and visit Physiotherapist but after 3-4 months your Symptoms which were acute but becomes sub-acute and worse by delaying and lack of awareness that physiotherapy can cure you. Ultimately  gets cured by The Physiotherapist.( I am not exaggerating have experienced it many times)

                Hence the whole point of explaining all this is because if you are aware about what is Physiotherapy you can probably save your precious 3-4 months delay in your treatment and get cured earlier, go back to your routine activities early. And most important thing you can save money.

Now talking about prevention

There are many exercises in Physiotherapy which deals with the preventing many disorders

1. General Fitness prevent any micro injuries that occurs to our daily life that we cant notice. Also regulation     of  blood folw to our body prevents many heart related disorders.

2. Hypertension related exercis prevents High Blood Pressure and maintaining your Blood Pressure at  normal values.

3. Obesity reduction exercises prevents obesity and gain normal BMI

4. Blood Sugar( Diabetes) related exercises maintain you blood sugar levels. and prevents High Blood  Sugar.

5. Old age  related problems prevents wrinkles skins, balance problems

and others.
