PhysioFeel
Hey Guys this is Dr.
Omkar , physiotherapist from Mumbai, and welcome to another blog of
PhysioFeel. Feel the Physiotherapy.
In our previous
blog I had discussed what frozen shoulder is? Its various stages, related risk
factors and symptoms. Today in this blog I will be telling you’ll about the
treatment for frozen shoulder.
But before that, time
for today’s question.
Question :
One of our viewers asked, “Every time I lift my arm
straight up to pick something I feel a tingling sensation which travels from my
shoulder down along the arm. If I keep the arm up for more than 5-10 seconds I
get pain .what could the reason be for same? Is it frozen shoulder?
Answer:
Your symptoms are
not exactly of frozen shoulder but could be associated symptoms of frozen
shoulder. As you said, that while trying to do a movement you get pain, so
possibly you could have developed secondary symptoms of frozen shoulder. Before
I answer I want to ask you if you have neck pain or restricted neck movements? If
your answer is yes than I must tell you that the symptoms you are showing is
due to the involvement of your neck muscle or nerves. The numbness or
tingling sensation and pain that you are getting is possibly because of nerve
compression at your neck region. So I would suggest you that the 1st
thing you need to do is ,correct your
posture. if you are in a habit of sitting in front of the computer and when you use the mobile phone
for longer periods of time you might end up aggravating your symptoms. So sit
upright when you use the laptop and mobile.
2nd thing
that I would suggest you to start with is stretching exercises for your neck
muscles. Mentioned on YouTube channel link given below. Take regular breaks while you are working and
do neck as well as shoulder movements. This will avoid aggravation of your
symptoms.
Along with that we show
some neural stretches to reduce tingling and numbness. If your pain and
tingling still persists please visit our clinic .we will do a complete assessment
and help you solve your problem. I will talk about it in details when I discuss
about neck pain.
Now lets talk about the
treatment for Frozen shoulder.
After proper assessment
and diagnosis a Physiotherapist can treat the patient in different ways or
combination of them.
o
1st will be by Controlling the Pain, Edema,
& Muscle Guarding
o
2nd Joint can be
immobilized in the sling to provide rest & minimize the pain when you are
not taking treatment.
o
